Waterlake Farm House Update 1

Construction of Waterlake House is progressing well.
The timber roof structure is completed and ready to receive sheeting. Internal and external plastering is ready to commence.
Note the exposed timber trusses over the dining room double volume. LED downlighters will be recessed in the tie-beams of the trusses. Isoboard XPS (extruded polystyrene) ceiling panels will be installed in between the truss members so that the building complies to SANS 10400 XA energy efficiency regulations. Chromadek concealed fix (Saflok 700) sheeting will be used for the roof. The advantage of concealed fix sheeting is that the metal is not pierced by roof screws.
The external elevations will be a combination of plaster and paint and flush jointed face brick (Corobrik “Fynbos Rooi”). This is the north-east elevation. The L-shaped stoep will be covered by a lean-to Chromadek roof on a steel structure. The “boma” fireplace is nestled in the elbow of the L-shaped stoep.
The symmetry of the gables either side of the main entrance creates a strong entrance axis. From the street entrance there is a framed view right through the building towards the river on the far side.
Flush jointed Corobrick “Fynbos Roos” face brick is used internally to create feature panels as for this niche in the play room.
