Muckleneuk House
A modern triple storey house with a view
This steeply sloped site is challenging, but the reward is a spectacular view over the capital city. Living areas are on the top floor. Large, double-glazed sliding doors open the interior to a patio and a wide north-facing balcony. A cantilevered swimming pool structure with a glass end-wall is a feature element on the façade. The mono-pitch roof is clad with concealed fix sheeting. Timber roof beams are exposed, thus adding volume to the spaces below. Bedroom level northern windows are shaded by the top floor balcony. The simple, balanced geometries of the design make for a timeless aesthetic.
