Refurbishment of Church in Randburg.
Winner in the 2026 Pretoria Institute for Architecture (PIA) Voices and Visions Awards in the Social Impact Category. The project was recognized for its impactful yest sensitive design intervention that had a meaningful an positive impact on its users. for See on Instagram
The Domus Dei Church renewal carefully modernised the existing building while respecting its architectural character. Interventions included a refreshed façade with energy-efficient safety glazing replacing stained glass, and a new exposed timber beam stoep structure that enhanced spatial quality and strengthened connections to surrounding gathering spaces. Internal upgrades included refurbished kitchen and kiosk facilities, renewed ablutions, improved accessibility, and flexible hall subdivisions through folding-sliding doors, resulting in a more functional, adaptable, and contemporary community building.
